This isn’t about listicles, click bait, or social surveys. This about you sharing real stories from real people. #OHNit

When you share, it’s important to think about how you can reach people. There’s so much noise out there making us desensitized to online content plus our attention spans are get shorter by the day. In fact, you may be one of the few people to actually read this whole sentence. So, if you’ve gotten this far, congrats! You get a gold start today.

To overcome these problems you’ll need to be direct and to the point. You may have an hour of footage, but you should think about the key moments that accomplish one or all of the following: 1) Provide a unique outlook on life 2) Change someone’s opinion about a topic 3) Draw a parallel to the struggles that we’re dealing with right now.

When you post something, ask yourself how relatable it is. After a couple of interviews you may be surprised how alike we all are, and that’s the point. As crazy as it may seem, much of what we are facing as a society right now has happened before. For example, before there were cyber bullies, there were just regular bullies. Before there were assault rifles, there were just rifles. Things may feel different because of the generational gap, but at the core this is simply about humans dealing with humans. That’s timeless. Aim to remind people of that and the problems we can overcome when we all do this together. Do that, and you’ve helped make change.
